Responsibilities of a Cook

The New Seasons Market cook position is not just a typical cook job. It’s great to be able to develop and train with local, fresh products and to provide the best culinary experience for our customers.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Meal Preparation

  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

  • Reads from and cooks food according to prescribed recipes or plans other menus

  • Follows Topgolf food quality standards, checks on the expiration date of products

  • Checks and ensures the correct preparation of the menu items using the company’s standard recipes

  • Weekly inventory for supplies/production

  • Ensures line is set up to meet service needs and to control food waste and labor cost

  • Reports issues that have caused the need to report a kitchen food quality fails status to Chef

  • Preparing menus – Maintain highest quality standards of taste, portion, presentation and timing

  • Follows Topgolf food specifications

  • Prepare food products for cooking

  • Maintain flexibility and change based on restaurant needs

  • Support the training of the new kitchen staff

  • Ensure appropriate levels of inventory and receiving of all goods with manager

Skills and Qualification Required

  • High School Diploma/ GED

  • Prefer previous line or fine dining cook experience

  • Excellent verbal communication and teamwork

  • Maintains the ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the company’s management and operations

  • Produces food items at the level of requirements and demands of the Chef

  • Must be 16 years or older

  • Required to read and follow recipes

  • Job Type: Part-time

  • Salary: $13.00 /hour

  • Experience:

    • line cook: 1 year (Preferred)

    • full service restaurant: 1 year (Preferred)

  • Education: High school (Preferred)

  • Location: Allen, TX 75002 (Preferred)

  • Shifts:

    • Morning (Required)

    • Evening (Required)

  • Work Location: One location

  • Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly or Twice monthly

  • Be prepared to go above and beyond during rush hours, busy weekends

  • Creativity and Passion – Contribute to recipe development and the creation of new dishes pub-wide

Skills and Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Solid experience as a cook or in a related role

  • In-depth knowledge of serving, portioning, and presentation of food

  • Familiarity with food safety (ServSafe handling certification a plus!)

  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a high paced kitchen

Preferred Skills:

  • Past experience in farm to table or community-driven kitchens

  • The creativity in the way they use fresh local seasonal and organic food in their dishes

  • Before posting, must have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with a team
